Wheaton North softball is zeroing in on its first conference and regional titles since 1986, as the Falcons take a one-game lead into the final week of DuKane play and have earned a No. 1 sectional seed. That, and notes on Downers Grove North, Downers Grove South and IC Catholic.

In front of a large crowd, the Hilltoppers withstood a solid effort by the Trojans to pull out a 25-21, 25-18 victory in Glen Ellyn. Casey Maas was a terror at the net, destroying nearly every Trojans’ rally with a thundering kill to thrill the mostly pro-Hilltoppers’ crowd.
