Eastland cut a 19-point third-quarter deficit to four points late in the fourth quarter but fell 60-50 to Pecatonica in the Class 1A River Ridge Sectional championship Friday.

Going into Tuesday’s Class 1A River Ridge Sectional semifinal against South Beloit, Eastland had two main points of emphasis in its game plan: double-team 6-foot-8 junior center Ross Robertson and force the Sobos’ guards to turn the ball over. The Cougars did both to win 50-35.
Marcos season comes to an end at Forreston regional
Eastland went on a run in the third quarter en route to a 48-38 win over Polo on Friday, Feb. 23, to win the 1A Forreston Regional championship. Eastland moves on to the Hanover (River Ridge) sectional on Monday, Feb. 27 where they will face South Beloit in a 7 p.m. game.
It’s been a long time since the Eastland boys basketball team last won a regional title. With a 48-38 win over Polo on Friday night in the Class 1A Forreston Regional final, that drought finally came to an end.
