The Oswegoland Park District hosted a kite flying event in honor of Earth Day and National Kite Month at Prairie Point Park in Oswego on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
In addition to the signal, the intersection of Plainfield and Woolley Roads will have flashing yellow arrows for left turns, pedestrian push-button countdown signals, and radar vehicle detection.
Oswegoland Park district officials say finding enough staff has been a challenge for a significant amount of time, but are confident they will be able to staff the currently scheduled summer hours.
“We are famous for taking old buildings and turning them into places that will benefit the community,” said Kristie Vest, superintendent of events and cultural arts for the park district.
Chosen from the first place entries in each of the six categories, the title of Best Home Brew went to Derek Ridge for his Rye Imperial Stout named “Harvest Moon Eclipse.”
In a email, Laura Finch, director of marketing and customer service for the park district, said agency officials took the pandemic into account as they planned for this year’s delayed festival.
Aquatics & Facilities Supervisor Erik Enslen confirmed April 1 that the park district is working to open the Civic Center Aquatic Park at 5 Ashlawn Avenue in Oswego, and Winrock Park Pool at 21 Winrock Road in Boulder Hill.
