Oswegoland Park District officials planning to open pools this summer

The Oswegoland Park District is preparing to open its aquatic facilities this summer, with an announcement anticipated later this month.

Aquatics & Facilities Supervisor Erik Enslen confirmed April 1 that the park district is working to open the Civic Center Aquatic Park at 5 Ashlawn Ave. in Oswego, and Winrock Park Pool at 21 Winrock Road in Boulder Hill.

“We’re still working on the exact opening date for it,” she said. “Our pools have sat for two years, basically. We’re being very cautious right now until we start to get water into the pools.”

Enslen said that the park district officials are “hoping to have some sort of an idea” for an aquatic season opening date by the middle of this month.

“We will have everything open at some point this year,” she said.

The park district chose to keep both facilities closed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, park district’s splash pad at Prairie Point Park, 4120 Plainfield Road in Oswego, opened late last summer with capacity and safety restrictions in place due to statewide mandates for the pandemic.
