Crews with Track Surfaces Company in Elburn, shoveled red dyed cinder onto the La Salle-Peru Township High School Track on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 at the La Salle-Peru Township High School Athletic Complex in La Salle. Workers have been resurfacing the track for the past week. LaSalle-Peru Township High School Sports Complex will be closed to the public for approximately four weeks while the track undergoes resurfacing work. The track was first installed in 2014.

The Vipers Track Club's 4x400 mixed relay team won a national title at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships over the weekend where 24 athletes in total, six of which are from the Daily Journal area, earned All-American honors.

The Forreston-Polo boys track team won the 1A Oregon Sectional on Friday, May 29, 2025 edging Winnebago 120 to 117.5. The Cardinals qualified individuals and relay teams to the state finals at Eastern Illinois University. Preliminaries at the state meet begin Thursday, May 29 in Mattoon.
