The 20th Annual Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade parade will kick off at 1 p.m. Sunday from Plainfield High School - Central Campus and move through the downtown area.
After the precautions of COVID-19, the return of the St. Patrick's Day Parade represents something special. Participating in these simple community events somehow take on a grander significance.

Then-District 202 Superintendent of Schools Walter Niehus started the homecoming parade in 1952 to celebrate Plainfield High School’s homecoming week, The Herald-News said in 2016. It has grown over the years into a community event bringing the whole town together.

The parade will start at 9 a.m. Saturday from Plainfield High School – Central Campus but will follow a new route this year.
Newman High School will face the Princeton Tigers on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 for their homecoming game.
Rock Falls High School showed their spirit Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 with a parade through the city in celebration of homecoming. The football team was to face Genoa-Kingston on Friday night.
