Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin jumped into a crowded Republican primary for governor Monday asserting he is the best pick to take on Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker in the general election.

“Illinois needs a Comptroller with real financial experience, not a career politician controlled by the special interests,” McHenry County Auditor Shannon Teresi said in a statement.
“When you look at the maps as were initially contrived and now this one, the concerns we presented to the County Board are not addressed,” the chair of the Democratic Party of McHenry County said.

A yearslong effort in the making compounded by delayed U.S. Census Bureau data came to fruition recently, as the DeKalb County Board approved a new redistricting map for elections.
"We cannot afford to have doubts about the way our elections are conducted and managed, but those doubts have begun to creep into McHenry County’s elections," Mahady said
