“From the start we all came together,” said Jenna Lewey, who plays for NIU after graduating from Sycamore. “From our first few practices and our first game we clicked really well. Everybody was on the same page. It helps that a lot of us have played together at some point in our careers but also the new people have come in and stepped it up.”
DeKALB - The DeKalb County United women’s under-23 team gave up four goals in a 13-minute stretch, falling to the Chicago Mustangs 5-2 Saturday in a friendly before heading off to an invitational championship tournament in Iowa next week to conclude its season.
Dixon's Taylor Harrison and Sterling's Ellie Gasso both rewrote the record books at their respective high schools, while forming a close friendship as club teammates. Not the two will take their talents to the Division I level, with Harrison playing at Loyola and Gasso playing at Illinois-Chicago.
Former Downers Grove North star Abby Swanson enjoyed a season of firsts with the Loyola soccer team earlier this year, becoming the first Loyola player to named Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches and becoming the first Rambler to score a goal in an NCAA Tournament game. Now she's spending the summer playing for the Chicago Red Stars Reserves of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, the largest amateur league in the nation.
