As the calendar turns to March every year, athletes, fans and sports reporters alike start turning their attention to the outdoors. After almost four months being cooped up in gymnasiums, it’s nice to start thinking about getting back outside to cover games and events.

Oregon’s Isaac Kaltenbrun used a huge final game at the Hononegah Sectional on Saturday to bowl his way into the IHSA state meet next weekend in O’Fallon, becoming the third Hawk to qualify for state twice in a career. Meanwhile, the Sterling boys swam to the title at the United Township Panther Invitational for just the second time in program history.
