A late spring snow system blanked portions of the Illinois Valley area on Tuesday morning. A dusting to nearly an inch was seen south of Interstate 80. Heavier snow was seen in the south portion of La Salle Bureau and Putnam Counties as the snowfall covered trees, plants and flowers. The snow accumulation is the fourth latest on record for, according to records kept in Ottawa.
