Downers Grove North rising senior tight end Will Vala announced his commitment to Illinois this week. Vala chose the Illini from over 20 offers, including Wisconsin, Purdue and Louisville.

Nazareth placed fourth at the Class 2A state tournament after falling to Springfield 4-0 in Saturday's third-place game. The Roadrunners will graduate only two starters from their 16-win squad, as they look to build on their first trip to state.
