Overcast and high 60s made for ideal conditions for IHSA's girls state track and field championships on Saturday in Charleston.

Glenbard West's 4x800 relay ran the fastest time in Friday's preliminaries at the IHSA state track meet, leading area finalists, St. Francis and Glenbard East softball won regional titles, Willowbrook baseball's 27-game win streak was snapped plus girls soccer regional results.

The IHSA girls track and field state finals take place Thursday-Saturday at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Here is the full list of state qualifiers from the Suburban Life area.

Jillian Booth had wins in three events and qualified for the Class 3A state meet in four to help lead York to the sectional title at the Wheaton-Warrenville South girls track and field sectional. Geneva took second and Batavia a close third.

Teams from Beecher, IC Catholic, Yorkville Christian, Westmont, Serena, Dwight, Somonauk, Seneca, Peotone, Earlville, Reed Custer, Marquette, Aurora Christian and Newark all competed in the Class 1A Sectional meet on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Seneca High School.

Kara Glenn showed her range in full, setting meet records in the 400 and 3,200 to pace St. Charles North to its second DuKane Conference title in as many years. St. Charles East set four meet records in taking second while Geneva took third.

Oswego East won its third consecutive boys title at the Palatine Relays while Hersey fended off York to win the girls crown in a tightly contested battle.

Huntley paced the field with 98 team points, placing first in the overall competition at the 48th annual Tiger Invitational at Wheaton Warrenville South on Friday evening.

The Downers Grove North girls track and field team team’s only blemish so far is losing one open meet. Otherwise, it’s been all wins. That includes Saturday’s Sue Pariseau Invitational at Glenbard West, which it dominated from the start despite not fielding its main lineup.

Margaret Andrzejewski won the 1,600 and Abby Yarusso the 3,200, and St. Francis also won the 4x800 and 4x400 relays to take fourth place at the Schaumburg Invitational. Dundee-Crown sophomore Clara Meier took the title in the discus

The Naperville North girls came from behind to win its own Gus Scott Invite, while Cary-Grove placed second and Waubonsie Valley and Wheaton Warrenville South tied for third.

Westmont senior Kyla Babb is literally taking training to a higher level. During six weeks in June and July, Babb participated in Team Prep USA summer camp in Colorado through high-altitude Rocky Mountain trails. The All-Stater has high hopes for cross country and track seasons.

Westmont junior Kyla Babb, who was second in the Class 1A 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 32.52 seconds and was third in the 1,600 in 4:56.45 at the IHSA state track and field meet, is the Suburban Life Athlete of the Week in an online vote.
