The L-P girls bowling team won the Interstate 8 Conference tournament, St. Bede boys basketball topped Bureau Valley and more results in Monday's NewsTribune roundup.

The La Salle Lincoln seventh grade boys basketball team will play in the IESA Class 3A third-place game Thursday, while Putnam County saw its season end in the 2A quarterfinals Saturday.

L-P's Aiden McCray placed 35th at state bowling, the L-P boys wrestling team advanced two to sectional and more in Saturday's NewsTribune roundup.

Hall's Braden Curran took a pass from his twin, Jack, and scored his 1,000-career point late in the second quarter over rival St. Bede. The Red Devils went on to score a 69-57 victory. St. Bede won the varsity girls game.

The Ottawa girls basketball team used a 3-pointer from senior Mary Stisser in the final minutes to take the lead and held on for a 30-25 Interstate 8 Conference win over rival La Salle-Peru at Kingman Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Sandwich placed second, Marquette took third and host Princeton had four individual champions in the Class 1A Princeton Regional, while St. Bede, Mendota and Putnam County-Hall also sent wrestlers on to sectional.

Mendota scored the first eight points of the game and led start to finish to beat Newman 65-46 on Friday, giving the Comets their first loss of the season.
