Cover crops and soil health are what drew about 50 other farmers to a Nutrient Stewardship Field Day put on by the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau on Tuesday morning at Mark Monier’s farm. It was the third of nine such events this summer being conducted by Illinois Farm Bureau and numerous partners.

Soaring prices for lumber and other materials have led builders -- both large organizations and do-it-yourselfers -- to change their plans or pay far more than expected.

The Gilted Edge Winery would be housed in a 1900s-era, 2,700 square foot red barn on a Plattville property. The site will host up to 40 people, per its zoning petition, with hours of operation on Friday evenings, Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons. The winery is set to begin operations in August 2021.
