On Nov. 12, the Batavia Park Board of Commissioners will host a ribbon cutting and dedication at 10 a.m., naming a linear park along South River Street in memory of Philip B. Elfstrom, a Batavia leader, visionary and businessman.
The 2023-24 session of the Kane County Certified Naturalist program is nearing. Since its inception in 2007, KCCN has introduced nearly 400 people to the wonders of the local ecology.
A free trunk-or-treat event will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive in Crystal Lake.
The renovated Prairieview Education Center in Crystal Lake has reopened with a large viewing area for bird watching and a space for kids and families to learn about native animals, rocks and other topics.
The event will include a wiener dog race, the “World’s Shortest Marathon” that covers all three PBS borders, music, bologna trivia and just plain fun.
The family-friendly event is Saturday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The show marks the return of the “Saturday Night Lights” concert series produced by the Norris Cultural Arts Center.
The annual Halloween Walk through Cary and Fox River Grove will return to its classic format of trick-or-treating at local businesses this year.
A reception for the “Common Thread” group show offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, is followed by an indigo dye workshop Oct. 8.
