A Joliet Township man was arrested and charged with possesion of child pornography after an investigation by the Illinois State Police.
Agents with Illinois State Police Zone 3 served a search warrant Tuesday in the 100 block of Jessie Street and arrested John Dieter, 21, who lives on Jessie Street, Illinois State Police Sgt. Christopher Watson said.
Dieter was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, and his bond was set at $30,000.
Dieter was released from the Will County jail about 2 a.m. Thursday after he posted 10% of his bond, jail records show.
“This investigation remains open and ongoing,” Watson said.
After the beginning of last year, state police investigations in Will County have led to the arrests of Deon Wallace, 22; Alex Abreu, 33; David Marvin, 56; Matthew Ferrari, 53; Adam Budig, 22; Alejandro Perez-Cervantes, 38; Rodney Phillippi, 61; Anthony Leonardi, 49; and Christian Rousseau-Zablockij, 29, on charges related to child pornography. It is not yet known whether those charged are part of a larger investigation.
A state police investigation also led to charges of possession of child pornography Cordale Hallin, 32, who has been in prison since April 24. Hallin is a convicted sex offender from Shorewood who previously pleaded guilty in 2014 to possessing and distributing child pornography.
Since then, Wallace, Marvin and Abreu have pleaded guilty to child pornography possession, court records show. The other defendants’ cases remaining pending in court.
