Cary-Grove co-op's Drew Watson won three state medals and set multiple records during a memorable season. The Crystal Lake South junior is the 2023 Northwest Herald Boys Swimmer of the Year.

Hinsdale Central won all three relays – setting state records in all three – in lapping the field to win the IHSA state swimming title on Saturday at Westmont. Also, Oswego Co-Op's Chase Maier took third and Cary-Grove's Danial Sanahurskyj tied for fifth in their races.

Cary-Grove co-op piled up state qualifiers in nine events Saturday to win the Barrington Sectional, while Huntley's Ben Rocks won two sectional titles and helped the Red Raiders make history.

Cary-Grove co-op's boys swimming team ran away with the Fox Valley Conference Invite championship on Saturday, giving the Trojans their 15th FVC title in 16 years.

Huntley's Gavin Heard won four state championships at the IHSA Boys Swimming and Diving Meet Feb. 26 at FMC Natatorium in Westmont. The Red Raiders senior was voted Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week by readers.

Cary-Grove co-op's Ben Castro captured a fifth-place medal in the 100-yard butterfly and was part of the Trojans' first two relays to place at state. The Crystal Lake Central senior is the 2022 Northwest Herald Boys Swimmer of the Year.
