Cary-Grove QB Jameson Sheehan, who helped the Trojans to the Class 6A state championship, will be a preferred walk-on with Illinois starting this summer.

Cary-Grove senior Wade Abrams thought he just had a thigh bruise back on Oct. 20, as he had at other points this season. It was much worse and put his season in doubt before he eventually worked his way back to play a huge role in the Trojans' 37-36 Class 6A state championship win.

Cary-Grove's Brad Seaburg is the Fall 2021 Northwest Herald Football Coach of the Year after taking the Trojans to the Class 6A state championship with a 37-36 win over East St. Louis.

Cary-Grove's goal of winning the Class 6A state title never wavered, even when powerhouse East St. Louis was placed in 6A. The Trojans stayed the course and completed their mission with a 37-36 victory on Saturday. They celebrated their title on Sunday back home.
