Two men await detention hearings after a Wednesday traffic stop in Peru yielded more than 2 ounces of cocaine -- and after a pair of search warrants yielded guns and another 4-plus pounds of cocaine.

A 78-year-old Princeton man was hurt in train-truck accident early Wednesday, the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Dover man was charged with aggravated battery, and charges against a woman may be pending, Ladd police said in a Monday press release.

The Illinois State Police is investigating a death in Bureau County.

Bureau County Sheriff Jim Reed said in a Friday news release he will not seek a fourth term of office.

Authorities have not yet identified the male found dead Friday at a location on West Peru Street in Princeton

A body found Friday in Princeton has yet to be identified, but authorities say there is no foul play.

The victim in Saturday’s hit-and-run has not been identified but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The search continues for the sport-utility vehicle that fled the scene.
