One couldn’t blame the St. Bede Bruins for feeling a bit cold for Monday’s game at Bureau Valley with the thermometer hitting a high of 47 at game time. They just returned home from a week playing in 80-degree weather on a spring trip to Tennessee.

St. Bede scored nine runs on eight hits in the top of the fifth, including home runs by Lily Bosnich and Macy Strauch, on the way to a 12-2 nonconference win at Bureau Valley.

Kids ranging from 18 months to 10 years old participated in the 2026 Mendota YMCA Easter egg hunt. These kids scrambled to find over 1,000 eggs Monday morning at Veterans Park, including three golden eggs that when found, could be exchanged for a gift basket. This is the fifth year that the Mendota YMCA has had this event, and the fourth at Veterans Park.

Veteran actors might be chagrined watching "The Play That Goes Wrong" at Stage 212 in La Salle, but most audiences will find it uproarious.

“The Play That Goes Wrong” will be presented April 17-19 and 24-26 at Stage 212, 700 First St., LaSalle. Friday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matinee performances begin at 2 p.m.
