Batavia police instructed two schools to go on lockdown Wednesday morning while investigating a report of a gunshot and a person screaming.

Sam Toia, president and chief executive officer of the Illinois Restaurant Association, said, “the increased presence of ICE agents and the staging of the National Guard in Chicagoland and surrounding suburban communities is disrupting restaurant operations significantly."

Opponents of President Trump's policies organized another national day of protest called "No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance" on Saturday, Oct. 18, with four scheduled in Kane County in Geneva, Aurora, Elgin and Pingree Grove.
