Experience a tribute to music icon Johnny Cash at the Rialto Square Theatre in downtown Joliet on Feb. 8.

The Folsom Prison Experience is a high-intensity recreation of Cash’s legendary Folsom Prison performance on Jan. 13, 1968, according to a news release from the Rialto Square Theatre.

According to the release, while Cash was going through a tough period, having just ended his first marriage, the band struggled to get him interested in recording in the studio. Their solution was to record live in a prison.

Witness the challenges and triumphs as Johnny Cash and his band, the Tennessee 3, face a captive audience in Folsom Prison. Experience the raw emotions that shaped this iconic performance. Audience members are encouraged to dress in prison inmate attire and become immersed in Folsom Prison.
