School Closings

Because of the expected winter storm forecast for northern Illinois, some Will County school districts are opting for virtually with e-learning on Wednesday.

Joliet West High School is going to an emergency E-Learning Day on Wednesday because the air conditioning is not working in the school’s cafeteria,.

Earlier this year, the Diocese of Joliet announced a major restructuring that involves closing some churches and schools and merging some parishes. This week marked the final time 5 churches will be holding Holy Week Masses as they close their doors this summer.

As Northern Illinois remains under a wind chill advisory through 9 a.m Wednesday, Will County schools have announced they will remain closed again on Tuesday. Many will be implementing online learning plans.

Schools around Will County are preparing to close and switch to e-learning Friday as winter weather heads towards Northern Illinois.

Some Will County schools had previously scheduled teacher institute days for Friday.

Centennial Elementary School in Polo is implementing a two-week “adaptive pause” starting Jan. 7.
