A man was found dead Tuesday night in Rock Falls after police responded to reports of gunshots in the 1700 block of 14th Avenue.

Jonathon Gounaris, 32, is charged with 4 counts of attempted first-degree murder, 3 counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, 3 counts of aggravated battery and 2 counts of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner’s identification card.

A Whiteside County judge has denied reducing the sentence of a Sterling man currently serving up to 24 years in prison on two charges of disseminating child sexual abuse images.

James S. Clevenger III, 61, was sentenced Sept. 12 to 30 years on each of six counts of criminal sexual assault.

The restaurant group, Azul Cantina Inc., based in Charleston, South Carolina, signed a lease for the retail space from owner Harkness Properties LLC in August, according to commercial real-estate company Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic.

The shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. July 23 in the area of 13th Avenue and East Fifth Street in Sterling. Responding officers found two boys – one 14, the other 17 – suffering from gunshot wounds.

Jason L. Endress, 45, was sentenced to four years probation with special conditions after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse that prosecutors said stemmed from a 2004 incident when he was a director at Camp Lowden, a Boy Scout camp east of Oregon.
