The Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribboncutting Friday with Dr. Ashok Maini as he opened his new urgent care facility at 1201 First Ave.

Six Ogle County farms are set to welcome visitors Oct. 13 during the Ogle County Farm Stroll. The farm stroll is a free, self-guided tour of Ogle County’s diversified family farms hosted by University of Illinois Extension.

Alan Marshall, arrested on three counts of arson, now has been charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and unlawful restraint in connection with events leading up to a Sept. 25 fire at a Sterling duplex in the 600 block of West Fifth Street.

Visitors can donate blood from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in Sauk Valley Community College's Dillon Mall, 173 state Route 2 in Dixon.

Newman High School Director of Marketing Gehrig Koerner made special mention of the Rock Falls School District, which donated 35,000 items to the program.

Ryley Egan, 18, rode to a National Equestrian Championship at the Arabian Youth Nationals in Oklahoma City this summer.

Dixon girls tennis beat Sterling 5-0, Newman girls tennis beat Rockford Lutheran and Sterling volleyball fell at Moline in Thursday's Sauk Valley roundup.

Items accepted for donation include new adult and youth winter coats, gloves and hats.

The breakfast will be from 7-11 a.m.
