Local roundup: Rock Falls girls roll in Oregon

Dixon girls cruise past Mendota; Eastland boys sink West Carroll

The Rock Falls girls basketball team cruised past Oregon 71-18 for a Big Northern win Monday night at the Blackhawk Center.

The Rockets led 21-7 after one quarter and 41-12 at halftime.

Karli Fischbach led Rock Falls with 19 points, and Ainsleigh Hendrix added 12, hitting four 3-pointers. Claire Bickett scored 11 and Brooke Howard added nine for Rock Falls.

Hadley Lutz scored 10 to pace Oregon.

Dixon 47, Mendota 27: The Duchesses shut out Mendota in the first quarter on the way to a Big Northern road win.

Dixon (7-1, 6-0 BNC) led 11-0 after one and 30-12 at halftime.

Abby Guthrie scored 15 to lead Dixon, and Harvest Day added 13.

Rockridge 51, Morrison 30: The Fillies were unable to top the Rockets in a Three Rivers West home loss.

Erie-Prophetstown 39, Bureau Valley 30: The Panthers picked up a Three Rivers East home win over the Storm.

Mak Glassburn scored 13 to lead E-P. Kara Schipper added nine.

Riverdale 49, Fulton 17: The Steamers fell on the road to the top-ranked team in the state in Class 2A.

Boys basketball

Eastland 69, West Carroll 25: The Cougars cruised past the Thunder in Mount Carroll.

Wyatt Baber led Eastland with 19 points. Carson Witt added 15. Drew Burkholder added nine.

Bradley Storjohann led the Thunder with six.

Eastland led 22-3 after one quarter and 38-12 at halftime.

Aquin 61, Amboy 35: The Clippers fell in Freeport.

Aquin jumped out to an 11-7 lead after one quarter, and led 24-12 at halftime and 44-21 after three.

Chase McDermott led Aquin with 18 points.

Tucker Lindenmeyer and Trevor Vaessen each scored eight for the Clippers.

Girls bowling

Oregon 3,517, Sterling 2,815: The Hawks picked up a win at Blackhawk Lanes.

Rebecca Meyers led Oregon with a 663 series and games of 246 and 236. Hannah Kaltenbrun added games of 217 and 204 in a 618 series. Oregon also got a 588 series from Ava Wight, a 573 series from Alysa Conley, a 552 series from Sammantha Meyers, and a 523 series from Mackenzie Brodkowicz.

Sterling got a 650 series from Olivia Zinanni, with games of 236 and 260. Grace Schultz rolled a 470, Hannah Conderman a 446, Kylie Bresley a 442, Katelyn Garcia a 412, and Brendy Gatica a 395.

College volleyball

Sauk wins Arrowhead opener: The Skyhawks hit the road Monday night and returned from Galesburg with a 25-18, 25-23, 25-23 win over Carl Sandburg in their first Arrowhead Conference match of the season.

Emma Carlson led Sauk (5-3, 1-0) with 13 kills and 14 digs, while Kiley Sanders added 10 kills and 10 digs. Lexi Greve had eight kills and three blocks, Madison Craft finished with 17 assists and eight digs, and Audra Goff dished 16 assists.
