As new champions were crowned Saturday at the IHSA Wrestling Individual State Finals in Champaign, Newman junior Carter Rude, who placed sixth last year at 126 pounds, settled for second place after he lost a 6-2 decision to Benton’s Mason Tieffel in Class 1A at 138 pounds.
