Area roundup: Sterling tops Geneseo in Western Big 6 volleyball match

The Sterling volleyball team defeated Geneseo 26-24, 25-16 in a Western Big 6 match Tuesday night at Musgrove Fieldhouse.

Grace Egan had 19 kills, and Kathryn Rowzee added five kills and two blocks for the Golden Warriors (12-16-1, 9-4 WB6). Karmen Weinrich had 13 digs, Addy Sullivan had 10 digs, and both served an ace. Katie Dittmar had three blocks and an ace, and Delali Amankwa dished 23 assists.

Genoa-Kingston def. Oregon 25-12, 25-9: The Hawks fell in a Big Northern match on the road.

Rockridge def. Erie-Prophetstown 25-17, 25-10: The Panthers lost a Three Rivers West road match.

Aylah Jones had five kills and six digs, Kennedy Buck spiked four kills and served an ace, and Hailey Bush added three kills and a block for Erie-Prophetstown. Jaiden Oleson finished with 11 assists, six digs, a block and an ace, and Emma Davis led the way with 11 digs while also adding an ace.

Orion def. Morrison 25-8, 25-15: The Fillies dropped a Three Rivers West contest on the road.

Eastland def. Milledgeville 25-23, 27-25: The Cougars came out on top in a hard-fought NUIC match against the Missiles in Milledgeville.

Addison Burkholder had 10 kills and two blocks for Eastland (20-8, 9-1), and Kayden Coulthard added 24 digs and five aces. Jenica Stoner dished 17 assists, and Quinc Haverland stuffed a pair of blocks.

Lydia Faulkner spiked five kills, and Alyssa Mertz and Adriana Miller each added four kills for Milledgeville, with Mertz dishing five assists and Miller stuffing three blocks. Emma Foster had nine assists, three kills and an ace, and Lilianna Smith slammed three kills.

Fulton def. Polo 25-17, 25-15: The Steamers picked up an NUIC victory on the road over the Marcos.

Nicole Boelens led Polo with seven kills, two blocks, 11 digs and an ace, while Bekah Zeigler spiked three kills, and Lindee Poper finished with two kills, two blocks, eight digs, five points and an ace. Emileigh Williams added seven digs, and Teah Almasy chipped in 10 assists and five digs.

Forreston def. AFC, 25-13, 25-7: The Raiders lost an NUIC match in Ashton.

Bailey Berogan had four kills, three digs and a block, and Brianna Gonnerman finished with four assists, three kills, two blocks and two digs for AFC. Taylor Jahn chipped in six digs.

Moline 2, Sterling 0: The Golden Warriors suffered a shutout on Senior Night at Roscoe Eades Stadium.
