Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week: Johnsburg’s Riley Johnson

Johnsburg senior Riley Johnson earned his first tournament victory to lead the Skyhawks to the Kishwaukee River Conference Boys Golf Tournament championship. Johnson was voted Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week.

Crystal Lake Central co-op, led by senior Delaney Medlyn's tournament-low, 3-under-par 69, won back-to-back Class 2A regional championships by 39 shots on Tuesday at Pinecrest Golf Club in Huntley.

St. Charles North's freshmen duo of Abigail Gizewicz and Kayla Beu took second and third to lead St. Charles North to a team title, and Dundee-Crown's Sophie Morawski shot a 1-under in the back nine to earn medalist honors at the Jacobs regional.

Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week: Crystal Lake Central co-op’s Madeline Trannel

Crystal Lake Central co-op senior Madeline Trannel earned medalist honors in two Fox Valley Conference wins last week and placed fifth at the FVC Girls Golf Tournament on Wednesday. Trannel was selected as the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week in an online vote.
