Collin Adelsbach was cut as a freshman, played junior varsity as a sophomore, but on Wednesday, he became a regional champion as a senior. The York senior carded a 2-under 70 at the Class 3A Buffalo Grove regional, leading the Dukes to their first regional title since 2019.
Benet, which finished with the only score under par on the day at 284, received a pair of below par performances from Jack Quil, who finished 4-under at 68, and senior Caden Petersen (71). Sophomores Rory Neill (72) and Charlie Davis (73) closed out the top four for Benet.
Benet senior Caden Petersen, who shot a Benet record 65 at the Hinsdale Central Invite and shot a 69 at the East Suburban Catholic Conference tournament to lead Benet to the team championship, and won the individual title in a playoff, is the Suburban Life Athlete of the Week.
While Elmwood's Salvatore Labarbera took individual honors, it was Riverside-Brookfield and West Aurora who came out as the top teams at Wednesday's Upstate Eight Tournament.
Hinsdale Central sophomore Michael Jorski fired a career-best 65 to win the West Suburban Silver individual title by five strokes, while tournament team champion Lyons and the Red Devils shared the team conference title. Downers Grove South, led by Gabe Garron, won the Gold.
Lake Park fended off Geneva and Wheaton Warrenville South in a three-way battle while St. Charles North's Caden Shanahan was the solo champion at the DuKane Conference boys golf championship on Tuesday.
