High school sports roundup for Thursday, May 13

Rose Roach racked up three hits and three stolen bases, and Kaneland’s softball team defeated host Sycamore, 12-1, in Interstate 8 Conference action Thursday.

The Knights put up seven runs in the second. McKenna Ryan was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out one.

Roach, Mackenzie Hardy, Danyelle Borysiewicz and Emily Olp had multiple hits for Kaneland, which collected 15 hits and 10 stolen bases.

BASEBALL

Naperville Central 14, DeKalb 7: At DeKalb, the Barbs trailed only 8-6 until the Redhawks scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning of the DuPage Valley Conference game.

Jared Schultz went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the way offensively for DeKalb. Ashton Gates and Kevin Lamont (RBI) were both 2 for 4.

Winnebago 16, Genoa-Kingston 1: At Winnebago, Ethan Wilnau’s double accounted for the Cogs’ only hit in their four-inning loss.

WRESTLING

DeKalb 76, Waubonsie Valley 0: At DeKalb, the Barbs moved to 5-0 with their DuPage Valley Conference win.

GIRLS SOCCER

Kaneland 7, Hinckley-Big Rock 0: At Kaneland, the Knights cruised in the nonconference match.

BOYS TENNIS

Morris 4, Kaneland 1: At Morris, the Knights fell to 0-4 in the Interstate 8.

Kaneland picked up its first conference doubles win from Andy McEvoy and Caleb Hwang.
