Upon arrival, Joliet firefighters found a fully involved detached garage fire, the fire department said.

At approximately 2:14 p.m. Monday, a 911 call went out regarding smoke inside one unit of a five-unit townhouse building in the 14500 block of South Patriot Square Drive in Plainfield.

A Joliet man was a roommate of the woman he’s charged with killing and the woman was apparently holding her 4-year-old son in her arms when they were repeatedly shot by him, prosecutors said.
