Rain in Friday forecast to start weekend

DAVENPORT, Iowa — High school football and thunderstorms. Both are on the schedule for Friday.

The National Weather Service forecast office in the Quad Cities sees a 30% chance of isolated rain showers Friday afternoon with winds shifting west northwest in the afternoon.

The forecast says a weakening cold front is the cause.

In the evening, there is a chance of thunderstorms developing before 11 p.m. Winds will be north northeast with gusts of 10 mph. There is also a chance for tapering showers toward midnight.

Temps are expected to be in the mid to high 80s for the remainder of the weekend as high pressure settles in to make things warm and dry.

Saturday will be sunny with easterly winds of 10 mph. Saturday evening winds will calm and temps falling to 56.

Sunday will have sunshine and light southeasterly winds. There could be gusts of 15 mph.
