DAVENPORT, Iowa — Another series of thunderstorms could hit the Sauk Valley region on Thursday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said. Relief from scorching temperatures is also on the way.
These storms affecting Whiteside and Lee counties are expected to be moderately severe. They will have torrential rainfall accompanied by damaging winds and frequent lightning. Carroll and Ogle counties are at marginal risk of these storms.
The heat advisory for the region has lifted. Lingering high heat in the 90s will affect the Iowa, Illinois and Missouri southward on a line from Burlington to Lincoln.
A cold front is expected to move across the area in the afternoon, bringing noticeably lower temps and dew points headed into the weekend, the service said.
