Rock Falls man charged with shooting fellow bar patron in the hip

ROCK FALLS – A 49-year-old Rock Falls man is in custody after a bar fight late Sunday that resulted in the shooting and wounding of another patron, police said in a news release this morning.

Police arrested and charged Todd A. Stillwell with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and possession of a concealed carry weapon while intoxicated.

The man, whose name is being withheld while the investigation progresses, was shot in the “hip area” just before midnight at The Corner Tap, 120 W. Second St., the release said.

He was taken to a Rockford hospital; his condition and further details were not provided.

Stillwell will have a bond hearing this afternoon, when formal charges will be levied.
