Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 74 coronavirus cases Wednesday.

Whiteside County had 34 new cases, with 10 younger than 20, five in their 20s, six in their 30s, two in their 40s, seven in their 50s, three in their 60s, and one 80 or older. There were also three recoveries. Whiteside has now had a total of 6,564 cases, 158 deaths and 5,961 recoveries.

Lee County had 36 cases, with four 12 and younger, eight in their 20s, seven in their 30s, six in their 40s, five in their 50s, four in their 60s, and one in his or her 70s. There were also 20 new recoveries. The county has had 3,567 cases and 66 deaths.

Carroll County had four new cases, and now totals 1,594 cases and 36 deaths.

Whiteside County has administered 24,950 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 10,038 people (18.05%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 15,598 doses, with 5,876 people (17.17%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 5,881 vaccine doses, with 2,695 people (18.83%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 23,262 doses, with 8,997 people (17.67%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 82 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.9%. Currently, 21% of ICU beds are available.

Lee County’s rate decreased by more than a full percentage point to 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 7.3%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 3,790 cases and 28 deaths Wednesday. The state has had 1,265,457 cases and 21,423 deaths.
