Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 65 new coronavirus cases Wednesday.

Whiteside County had 25 new cases, with two younger than 20, three in their 20s, five in their 30s, five in their 40s, five in their 60s, three in their 60s, and two in their 80s. There were also 53 recoveries. The county has now had a total of 5,265 cases, 134 deaths and 4,903 recoveries.

Lee County had 10 new cases, with one younger than 12, one teen, two in their 20s, two in their 40s, two in their 60s, and one each in their 70s and 80s. There were also 14 new recoveries, for a total of 2,715 cases and 54 deaths.

Ogle County reported 17 new cases, for a total of 4,422 cases, 59 deaths and 3,793 recoveries.

Carroll County had 13 new cases, with two children, five in their 20s, two in their 40s, three in their 50s and one in his or her 60s, and now totals 1,392 cases and 31 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under the 12% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 8.9%. Currently, 27.9% of medical/surgical beds are available and 26.8% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Lee County’s rate increased to 2.4%, and Whiteside County’s rate increased to 8.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased seven out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 5,862 cases and 97 deaths Wednesday. The state has had 1,046,030 cases and 17,840 deaths.
