Boys golf: 2021 Northwest Herald All-Area team

FIRST TEAM

Bayden Hubacher, Crystal Lake Central, sr.

Hubacher was sixth at the Fox Valley Conference Tournament and helped lead the Tigers to the back-to-back conference titles. He tied for third at the Class 2A Marengo Regional with a 76 and tied for fourth at the Class 2A Sycamore Sectional with a 73. At state, he tied for 28th with a two-day score of 78-74-152. Hubacher will play next year at NCAA Division I Western Illinois.

Eric Klutke, Crystal Lake Central, sr.

Klutke, the 2021 Northwest Herald Boys Golfer of the Year, tied for the best local finish at the Class 2A state tournament with a 72-75-147, tying for 13th. The Tigers senior earned medalist honors at the Class 2A Marengo Regional with a 73 and was sixth at the Class 2A Sycamore Sectional with a 75. Central placed fifth as a team at state.

Tyson Malak, Burlington Central, sr.

Malak tied Klutke for the best local finish at the Class 2A state tournament with a 72-75-147 (13th). He placed runner-up in the Class 2A Sandwich Regional with a 77 and fifth at the Class 2A Sycamore Sectional with a 75. Malak was third at the FVC Tournament with a 79.

Christian Wakeford, Crystal Lake Central, sr.

Wakeford tied for 35th at the Class 2A state meet with a 74-80-154, giving the Tigers three top-35 finishers. He tied for seventh at the Class 2A Marengo Regional with an 80 and tied for third at the Class 2A Sycamore Sectional with a 73, helping Central win the sectional team title by seven shots.
