Friday Night Roundup: Polo races to 50-point win at Peoria Heights

Polo’s unbeaten run through the 8-man football ranks continued on Friday with a 50-0 win at Peoria Heights.

Avery Grenoble rushed 10 times for 114 yards and scored touchdowns from 33, 48 and 5 yards. Brock Soltow added 52 rushing yards and a 2-yard score. Brady Wolber had a 71-yard touchdown on his only carry of the game. Tyler Merdian rushed for 42 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown, and passed for 75 yards, including a 20-yard scoring strike to Kahlil Sankey.

Polo’s defense limited Peoria Heights to 61 rushing yards on 24 carries, while the Polo offense picked up 298 rushing yards on 26 carries.

Byron 49, Oregon 7: The Hawks couldn’t stop the Tigers in a Big Northern showdown at Byron.

Seth Stevens got Oregon on the board with a touchdown from 6 yards out in the third quarter. Daniel Dominguez led Oregon with 21 carries for 43 yards.

East Dubuque 50, Eastland-Pearl City 15: The Wildcatz got a touchdown from Riley Schauer just over three minutes into the game to take a lead at East Dubuque, but the Warriors then scored the next 50 points.

Schauer finished with five carries for 55 yards.

Carsen Heeren, playing quarterback with Kellen Henze playing at the 1A state golf meet, completed 2 of 6 passes for 33 yards.

Milledgeville 48, Aquin 28: Connor Nye had a hand in seven touchdowns, four through the air and three on the ground, in a Missiles win.

Milledgeville has won its past six games.

Orion 30, Morrison 0: The Mustangs were shut out in the Three Rivers West at Orion.
