A rural DePue man will stand trial Aug. 3 on charges stemming from a domestic dispute in which a small child was shot and killed.

Bureau County officials have released the identity of the child who was shot during a hostage situation Sunday, May 10, in rural DePue.

Rodriguez is charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated assault and two counts of domestic battery. He faces up to five years if convicted of aggravated unlawful restraint, the most serious of his counts.

A 3-year-old child was killed and a suspect was injured following an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning in rural DePue, according to information from the family and a news release the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office.
