MAPLE PARK – Former Village Board member Suzanne Fahnestock will replace departing Trustee Luke Goucher, who resigned Sept. 25 because he and his wife are moving outside of village limits.
“Luke’s innovative thinking will be missed,” Village President Kathy Curtis said. “It was a pleasure serving with him. When I learned of Luke’s new path, Suzanne was the logical choice. I am very excited that she is willing to step up for our community and serve again.”
Fahnestock, who has lived in Maple Park for 15 years, had served as a trustee from May 2009 until April 2013.
“Maple Park is my home,” Fahnestock said. “I always want to preserve the quality of life for my family, neighbors and fellow citizens in the village.”
Fahnestock has worked in government and education in several capacities. She currently is the interim executive director of the DuPage County Election Commission. She also worked for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, and has taught as an adjunct professor at Waubonsee Community College, as well as at other colleges and universities.
“I think my work experience and education gives me the necessary experience to contribute and help the village face our challenges and succeed,” she said. “I hope to bring my education and work experience to help the village manage new growth while maintaining the same small-town atmosphere that we enjoy.”
When Fahnestock was on the board, she was actively involved in infrastructure projects.
“In the end, it is public service and serving a community that I love,” she said.
