SPRING VALLEY — Dorothy Ann Colby, 85, of Spring Valley died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
Dorothy was born Aug. 1, 1931, in LaSalle to John Edward and Dorothy (Anderson) Kossow. She married Ronald W. Colby Aug. 1, 1976, at the Congregational Church in Peru.
Dorothy graduated from LaSalle–Peru High School. She was a homemaker and she worked at Carus Chemical Company and New Generation Foods.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Walter Colby of Spring Valley; two sons, Richard Alan Hale of Rogersville, Mo., and Todd Alan Hale of Peru; two stepsons, Dane Eric Colby of Tiskilwa and Collin Walter Colby of Utica; one daughter, Cindy Rae Seltzer (Hale) of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Pamela Jo Colby of Astoria, Ore., and Rhonda Ann Fogle (Colby) of McNabb; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Kossow, and her mother, Dorothy Kossow; five brothers, John Kossow, George Kossow, Frank Kossow, Albert Olsen and George Olsen; and three sisters, Evelyn Albright, Darlene Fieser and Marion Gieger.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.
