To the Editor:
A few years ago, a Christian friend of mine asked me this: “As a nonbeliever, if you could discover with complete certainty that God truly exists, what would you do?” I said, ”I would apologize, ask to be forgiven and seek redemption.”
Then I asked him what he would do if he found out with absolute assurance that the idea of God is a manmade concept. He replied, ”Without God, love and morality are meaningless, so nothing would matter to me anymore. I’d probably fall into a long, deep, dark depression.”
To this day, his response puzzles me. I’m curious as to what your Christian readers think of his remarks, and what their answers would be.
