The village of New Lenox announced it will soon welcome a new restaurant that will occupy a vacant commercial spot.

Bourbons Smokehouse will renovate the former Mattina Cafe space and is planning to open in November, according to a news release. The former cafe was located at 280 E. Lincoln Highway.

“We’re excited to have a different type of eating establishment in the village and that a vacant tenant space has been filled,” New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann said in a statement.

Joe Regiro, the owner of Bourbons Smokehouse, said in a statement that his team chose New Lenox because they “fell in love with the people.”

“We are excited to bring our fast casual, slow-smoked real pit barbecue with the ‘fixin’s’ using our uniquely crafted flavors,” Regiro said. “We have developed our signature flavors, recipes and techniques over the last 20 years.”

Regiro added that Bourbons Smokehouse will offer a full bar and video gambling for guests.

“We look forward to working hard to earn the community’s business every day and hope to see you in November!” he said in the statement.

The village said there are five available spaces in the strip mall, each of which averages about 900 square feet.

The Mattina Cafe closed last year.
