Lincoln-Way D-210 board moves forward with student fees refund

Lincoln-Way District 210

The Lincoln-Way D-210 board voted to give refunds and discounts on student fees and student parking passes.

No one had paid athletic or activity fees yet, so the board voted to keep it that way. For parking passes, students who never drove to school this year should have been refunded 100% already, but the board will double check that.

For those who did drive a portion of the year, or participated in hybrid learning, will receive a 50% discount. Administration met on Friday to discuss the process of how and when the funds would be given back. Letters will also be sent home.

It will be roughly a month, Tingley said.

“We have experience refunding large amounts of money, but it has been a long time since we’ve done that,” said Superintendent Scott Tingley. “Within 30 to 45 days.”

If the district was to return to full in-person, Tingley said the school’s parking lots would be able to accommodate all drivers.

As far as senior students’ lunch balances being refunded at the same time, that is something the district may look at in the future. Usually a student’s lunch balance carries over throughout their career.

By senior year, those students are refunded the remaining balance.
