Man wounded in shooting on Joliet’s East Side: cops

Officers investigating shooting that occurred on State Street, police said.

Police are investigating a shooting on Joliet’s East Side that left a man wounded with injuries that were not life-threatening.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of State Street after they received a report of a man who had been shot, Joliet police said in a news release.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they determined that a 37-year-old man was struck by gunfire while he was standing on a second story deck, police said.

Police said no description of the suspected shooter was available, and the wounded man was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center.

The investigation remains open and in its early stages, police said.
