Man failed to appear in shooting threat case: records

Joliet police arrested man who’s charged with threatening to shoot a person

A man was arrested in Joliet after he failed to appear in court on charges alleging he threatened to shoot a person, damaged their window and struck a second person.

About 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Eastern Avenue and Van Buren Street for a traffic violation, Joliet police said.

Dionte Reed, 25, of the 5500 block of Cider Grove Court, Plainfield, was identified as a passenger in the vehicle, police said.

“Officers determined that Reed held above active warrant and he was placed into custody without incident,” police said.

The warrant charged Reed with failing to appear in court on May 17 in a case where he was charged with criminal damage to property, battery and disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from a March 7 incident in Shorewood where Reed is accused of damaging another person’s window, threatening to shoot that person and striking a man about the body, according to the criminal complaint.

Reed was taken to the Will County jail after his arrest and he was released after posting bond.

On March 3, Reed pleaded guilty to obstructing identification and he was sentenced to two years of court supervision, court records show.
