Joliet Catholic dominated Mooseheart from the start of its 68-53 victory at the Aurora Christian Invitational on Thursday in Aurora.
The Hilltoppers dashed out to a 25-5 lead after the first quarter and coasted to victory. Alex Brown led the way with 18 points, Brennan Luz scored 12, and Jason Pilapil added 11.
JCA (3-0) will play Aurora Christian in the championship game Saturday.
GIRLS BASEKTBALL
Peotone 71, Streator 29: At Streator, the Blue Devils were all over the Bulldogs in a dominant road win.
Peotone led, 46-16, by halftime in the rout. Jenna Hunter led the way with 26 points and seven rebounds, Madi Schroeder had 14 points and six assists, and Addie Graffeo added 11 points.
Lincoln-Way West 58, Kankakee 48: At Kankakee, the Warriors picked up a win thanks to a 21 points from Ava Gugliuzza.
Roanoke-Benson 46, Dwight 20: At Dwight, the Trojans suffered a loss, and although they kept the game close in the first quarter, it eventually got away from Dwight. Brooke Vigna was the Trojans’ top scorer with 11 points.
Henry 37, Seneca 25: At Seneca, the Irish only managed seven points in the second half of the loss.
Kennedy Hartwig had eight points for Seneca.
Coal City 46, Wilmington 43: At Coal City, the Coalers narrowly survived a visit from the rival Wildcats and picked up their first Illinois Central Eight Conference win of the season.
Molly Stiles led the way for Coal City (5-1, 1-1) with 17 points, and Abby Gagliardo had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Reed-Custer 36, Manteno 27: At Manteno, the Comets held their hosts to less than 30 in a IC-8 win.
GIRLS BOWLING
Joliet Central 2,285, Plainfield South 2,149: At Town and Country, the Steelmen earned a Southwest Prairie Conference win over the Cougars.
Maddalynn Butler was top scorer for Joliet Central with a 497 series and a high game of 192, but it was Plainfield South’s Morgan Acs had the match’s high series in spite of the loss with a 506.
