Hall’s two-year stretch of state runner-up finishes is unmatched in Bureau County history.

She would go on to be a state qualifier in four sports at Princeton High School, leading the Tigresses’ volleyball team to the 1990 Class A State championship. She took her game to the next level to compete for the Notre Dame Irish volleyball team.

Here's a closer look at the Bureau Valley Storm 1999-2002 state basketball teams

The Bureau Valley boys basketball teams from 1999-2000 to 2001-02 placed third in the Class A state tournament three straight years. The Storm, who are the only team to accomplish the feat, are being inducted into the Bureau County Sports Hall of Fame.

In 25 seasons, Placek guided her Tigresses to six conference (NCIC) championships, four district championships, 11 regional championships, nine sectional championships and three state appearances, culminating with the 1990 Class A state championship.

Jeppson led the Red Devils to two back-to-back state runner-up finishes and Klein led the Hall girls to their only state tournament appearance. They are their program’s all-time leading scorers, combining for more than 4,300 points.

Feeding off the frenzy created by the team’s theme song coined by assistant coach Steve Kiser, “Tiger Style Runnin’ Wild,” the 1989 Tigers captivated the town and community as they ran wild to the 3A State championship game.
