Princeton’s Maya Gartin signs to play volleyball for Sauk

Gartin, a middle hitter, was a BCR Second Team selection and received TRAC East All-Conference Honorable Mention. Gartin said Howell first reached out to her and shown interest in her. “I had checked out their school a little more and went to an open gym,” Gartin said. “(Howell) made it known that he really wanted me. Princeton High School senior Maya Gartin signed Tuesday to play volleyball for Sauk Valley Community College.

Gartin, a middle hitter for PHS, was a Bureau County Republican Second Team selection and received TRAC East All-Conference Honorable Mention. Gartin said Sauk coach Jay Howell first reached out to her and showed interest.

“I had checked out their school a little more and went to an open gym,” Gartin said. “(Howell) made it known that he really wanted me. And so I believe that their program is great and I cannot wait to be apart of it.”

Gartin’s teammate, Katie Bates, also signed Tuesday with Loras College to play volleyball and softball.
